International Women’s Day

STRONG, RESILIENT, AND SUGAR -CHALLENGED – Women with T1D

Today is International Women’s Day, a celebration of the strength, resilience, and power of women everywhere. But for those of us living with Type 1 Diabetes, that strength takes on a whole new meaning.

Every day, we make hundreds of decisions just to stay alive. Decisions like, counting carbs, calculating insulin, treating highs, correcting lows, all while juggling work, family, dreams, and everything in between. We push through brain-fogging lows that make it hard to think, and we fight off exhaustion from relentless highs or lows. We advocate for ourselves in doctor’s offices, workplaces, and sometimes even with strangers who don’t understand what it really means to live with this condition.

Some days, we feel like we have it all under control. Other days, diabetes reminds us that it’s the boss (but we fight back anyway). Through it all, we rise.

So today, I’m celebrating all the women with T1D. The warriors who show up, despite the challenges. The ones who refuse to let diabetes define them. The ones who keep going, even when the numbers don’t cooperate.

Here’s to us, strong, capable, and absolutely unstoppable.
